Klauke suffers from Reumatoid arthritis, Fibromyalgia and Cistic Fibrosis. For years now regular pain modifiers have lost their effectiveness on Klauke. Cannabis seems to be the solution for him. With the use of 3 grams per day he is able to function without severe pain. Medicinal Cannabis costs about 6 Euros per gram and can be prescribed by doctors for both humans and animals. Cannabis is most famous for its use as a recreational soft drug. It’s available at “coffeeshops” throughout the Netherlands. Coffeeshops purchase their products from illegal growers or grow it illegally themselves. The Netherlands have no laws or legal procedures that allow for the legal growth or use of recreational Cannabis. The fact that it is allowed to exist has to do with the Dutch tolerance policy, by which the possession of small amounts of Cannabis is not actively prosecuted. Cannabis is less well known for its medicinal use. But medicinal Cannabis has been available on a doctors prescription in the Netherlands since September 2003. The growth of Cannabis for medicinal use has been legally permitted since 17 march 2003.
