Darfur Conflict

comp-darfur-310x150After five years the ongoing Darfur conflict still forces people to flee their homes and cross the border to find shelter in refugees camps in Chad.
In 2004 Sudan and Chad have agreed to disarm militias on both sides of the border in an effort to end fighting that has brought about what aid
agencies say is now the world’s worst humanitarian disaster. But nowadays the situtation has become even worse. Hundreds of thousands of people
have fled from the Darfur region in western Sudan to Chad in the face of attacks by the government-backed Janjaweed Arab militia. In the last year
the violence has spread from Sudan to Chad where Arab militias attack villages in Chad as well and more than 120.000 Chadian villagers have fled
to IDP camps in the region.
